Up for your consideration is probably the best(I hate using that phrase over and over but when it’s true what the heck) austrian enameled jewelry chest/ box/. Wood Jewelry Casket Box. I have been in the business for over 50 years and this is the best I assure you that I have ever seen, the only thing that can make it better would be if it was larger size, but it’s big enough for probably most people. It measures approximately 10 1/2 inches tall and approximately 6 1/2 inches in depth and seven and 7 1/2 half inches wide. This is 19th century gilded bronze mounts on Ebenized black Veneer case in set with hand painted plaques of classical figural scene, and also the columns are enameled. This is very rare They are usually painted wood or bronze. The finals are in the form of puttis/child riding flying swan mounted on dome top inset with oblong panels and reticulated brown’s mounts of masques and scrolls, stepcase in two parts uppercase with enameled columns at four corners and terminating with four bronze satyr children, panel sides include two cabinet panel doors one with six oval panels brass ring pulls and blue enameled flowers. Lower case with oblong panels to and double panels to single draw front, raised on Square Base with bracket feet filigree spandrels, where consistent with age including heavy checking cracular on the bottom mainly. I see a little crack along the front (which is baley notceble to see) probaly created when they put the little nail into it. There is a brass clip on the bottom of the door which must be released first before opening the door. It is not stuck. I will be putting this in a larger box to prevent any damage. Please look at my other jewelry chest that somewhat smaller but still very elegant.
