Large Antique 19thC German Black Forest Floral Carved Wood Casket Jewelry Box. Beautiful hard to find in this condition. This beautiful piece is a perfect example of the fine artistry and craftsmanship of Black Forest carvers. The box is old and is finely crafted and detailed. See the photot to show how thick the wood is. It is of a larger size and no doubt made to store jewelry or other precious valuables. It features a solid, carved wood body with inlaid metal and hand carving. The box is rectangular-shaped with bombe front (love the rounded shape), all covered with ornate carved large flowers and inlaid leaves. The lid and bottom edge feature a molded border. The interior still has the velvet and a top divided removable tray. The lock is in tack but a little sticky with two keys which is rare to find. Box presents well and is in good antique condition, with wear and patina commensurate with age. There is minor surface scuffing and a few small nicks and dings. It needs a good cleaning. Dimensions: 10 3/4″ in length, 9″ in depth, 5 1/4 tall in height.
