To clarify a few things, I have this listed in the Antiques category (because of the wooden box subcategory), it is not an antique, I don’t know the vintage, maybe the artist is still making boxes. 2nd, I call this a “Puzzle Box”, it has a piece that you need to lift out in order to slide the top off, so not much of a puzzle/mystery, just a different type of lid and “latch”. — Stamped with makers name inside lid as shown. Made from an actual piece of Cedar trunk. I really love this peice, the choice of the shape, with the extended part of the branch and various knots. I don’t know how the surface is finished, you can see the nice polish on the top of the lid, I love the deep lines of the outer trunk, I assume the outer bark was removed first. — Would be fun to count the rings on the top to see how old the tree was. — The top edge of the interior has some applied residue on one side and down in the groove for the lid, I’m wondering if the maker was going to apply a material to that top edge. Inside bottom is cushioned velvet. Interior is about 3.5″-3.75″ deep. Interior is 4″ wide on the long side and 3″ across to the channel for the lid stop piece — I just looked up some of his other boxes, I really love this one, it feels “composed” like a sculpture with that just a bit of trunk offsetting the bulk of the trunk, as if the branch is partially buried and coming out of the ground — See photos for condition details. — I don’t have a way to arrange for a local pick-up of this item, I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
