For sale here is a beautiful handcrafted wooden jewelry or trinket box. I believe the main veneer is of fruitwood; it covers the back and the sides/ trim. The other 3 sides and top are inlaid with a very intricate geometric parquetry design. Brass trim top & base. The box has a keyhole. Top opens to reveal a pinkish peach color satin interior. The front unfolds – as shown. I believe this is a mid 19th century box, probably made in Italy, as they were the parquetry experts of those days. Truly a magnificent quality piece. Pictures were taken with and without flash, so a slight color variation is to be expected. Size – About 10.5 inches long, 3 5/8 tall, 4.5 inches deep. Condition – Very good with age related imperfections. See nail in the corner. Interior fabric has marks and fraying. All stated sizes or dates are approximate.
