Vintage – Circa 1970’s. CHINESE STAINED WOOD And BRASS Hardware FIVE DRAWER JEWELRY BOX CHEST Lined. Lovely quality five drawer footed rectangular wood jewelry box, possibly made with stained wood for the frame, and with a complimentary decorative mottled wood applied or painted wood burl wood effect on the front face of each drawer. Each drawer is lined with a solid rich jade green color brocade fabric with an Asian pattern woven into the weave. Three drawers are fully open, one drawer has one divider to make two sections, and the remaining drawer has an open center section and two side cushions for rings. Interior is very bright and clean on all drawers; they just need a good dusting. Ring drawer is generally clean as well, but does show some use, as shown in photo. Each drawer has a decorative brass pull, and there is also a brass pull on each side of the jewelry box. The brass pulls on either side of the box have an engraved flower motif. There is also a decorative engraved brass corner piece on each of the fours corners at the top of the jewelry box. Each has an engraved insect with wings type motif. One of the corner pieces has some darkened areas on its edges. All brass hardware is secure with no loose pieces or missing nails. Tarnish is evident on brass areas with engravings; brass has not been polished. Wood exterior and interior of box are in excellent condition on front, sides and bottom with only minor scratches here and there, as expected with its circa 1970s vintage. Top of box has a lovely patina as well, with just a scratch and a couple of small discolored spots. Note also in one of the detailed photos that there is is a very small piece of wood missing from the back left foot. This is not a flaw, but part of the original manufacture of the jewelry box. Approximate dimensions of jewelry box: Box is 9.0″ wide (10.0″ wide with brass pull hardware), 12.0″ high and 7.0″ deep. Approximate dimensions of jewelry drawer interior: 7.5″ wide and 5.5″ deep.
