An Excellent Antique Moroccan Jewelry Box / Chest. Chip carved geometric pattern on top of lid and sides of dark wood chest. 19.5 inches in length x 11.5 inches in width x 10.5 inches tall. Clear pressed glass panels in the doors on the front of the chest. There is a keyhole, no key. Inside the lid is a panel of painted interlocking geometric designs – gorgeous! On top, there are many compartments lined in aged, stained and very worn patterned silk material. Inside the glass doors are three drawers. The drawers are not lined. Two small top drawers have brass pulls and the bottom drawer has two wooden knobs. The door hinges appear have been replaced and there are some replacement pieces of wood at the hinge area. As shown in photo. There is also a piece of wood replaced at the bottom front – please see photo. The box is quite old and worn at edges and on the little ball feet. There are staining and dings, scratches. A crack in the lid – see photos – does not detract from the charm of the piece.
