1180 Rosewood Jewellery Box. A late Victorian ladies rosewood jewellery box. It has the addition of brass inlay with a brass escutcheon, stringing and a central flower shaped plaque. It has a lock which works and comes with the key. The box is of rectangular form and the lid is hinged to the back. The rosewood veneer is a little lighter than average and this helps show off the attractive grain and figuring. The interior features a fitted tray which appears original (but repainted) and a plain section below. The shape of the tray fittings suggests it was intended for necklaces, and pearls. Normal age related faults with some repair to the veneer to the left front top of the lid and the left side base at the bottom corner. Normal age related wear. Interior faded and worn but appears original, the walls likely repainted. Working lock and key. Right side a little lighter from sun fading. Overall an attractive example as you can see in the images. If for any reason you are unhappy with your item please let us know as soon as possible, and we will do our best to put things right.
