An exceptionally fine late 1800s to earliest 1900s hand carved Black Forest (Swiss) gloves box or jewelry box, documents box, casket – whatever you’d like to use it for, it’s going to thrill you. Displays beautifully open or closed, with that spectacular original royal blue silk satin lining as it is – no odors, no stains, no tattering, which is quite rare. And the carved birds? They’re just wonderful, aren’t they. The box is large, 12.5 long. Other measurements are noted on the photos. Very good to excellent condition throughout, look closely at those wings, etc. Such a fine anatomical carving, the Animalier movement so well represented by this carver, whose initials are shown on bottom. The lock appears to be a working lock, but at listing time we haven’t been able to match up a key from our stash of antique keys, so it is being listed without a key.
