Restored and re-polished (traditional method), features: All original hardware: stop hinges, original screws reconditioned, brass lock and catch which is fully operational and comes complete with a period key and a new tassel. Bottom (underside) is covered in black baize (so wont mark polished surfaces). No veneer repairs, both MOP escutcheon and cartouche are originals- all is as when made over 130 years ago, in superb condition sympathetically restored bringing the box back to its former glory. Internally converted for use as a jewellery box and fully lined in quality maroon cotton velvet, boasts a handmade solid walnut tray which projects above the base of the box utilizing the lid space, includes ten compartments and a triple row of ring holders (made by myself- a qualified Furniture Maker to exacting standards).
