A very fine early Victorian rosewood veneered jewellery box with original lock and key, circa 1840. The top has a central vacant brass cartouche which matches the brass escutcheon. The top lifts to reveal a pink interior with divisions and compartments for keeping jewellery. There is a tray that can be lifted out to access a storage area beneath. It has been lightly cleaned, re-waxed and polished and the rich grain of the rosewood is particularly appealing. There has been some past minor veneer repairs that has been expertly undertaken and quite difficult to spot and is overall in excellent condition. Measurements: 28 cm wide, 20 cm deep and 10.6 cm high. C leaned and restored to a high standard. All you need to do is wipe over with a soft cloth from time to tim e. You can occasionally use a spray furniture polish that contains bees wax, which will maintain its satin sheen. Please dont use a silicone spray as this could be detrimental to the wax ed surface.
