THIS IS A RARE VICTORIAN. AMBOYNA BURR WOOD DOME TOP BOX. WITH WHITE METAL STRINGING. IT HAS A REALLY LOVELY RICH PATINA. (approx 138 years old). There are two very old veneer repairs – viewing from the front of the box you will see there is. One on the right-hand side at the bottom front and another on the left-hand side at the bottom back. These in no way whatsoever detract from the aesthetics of this beautiaul box. THE BRASS SHIELD CARTOUCHE IS UN-ENGRAVED. THE LOZENGE KEY ESCUTCHEON IS ALSO BRASS. THE COMPARTMENTALISED LIFT-OUT TRAY IS A REPLACEMENT AND. THE TRAY AND BOX ARE LINED IN TERRACOTTA ART PAPER. THE PADDED LID IS COVERED IN CHAMPAGNE CRUSHED VELVET. THE BRASS HINGES ARE NEW. THE LOCK IS ORIGINAL WITH KEY – FULLY WORKING. To enable you to preserve your treasures and/or secrets whether it be jewellery, documents. Specimens or anything of sentimental value.
