FIDDLEBACK MAHOGANY BOX IN THE NEO CLASSIC STYLE. WITH EBONY STRINGING DECORATION TO THE LID. THIS IS A SUPERB PERIOD PIECE. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL FINISH AND PATINA. WITH RICH DEPTH AND COLOUR. CIRCA 1790 – 1800. (approx 228 – 218 years old). THERE IS A STYLISED BRASS CARTOUCHE WHICH IS UN-LETTERED. THE KEY ESCUTCHEON IS IN THE SAME FORMAT. THE COMPARTMENTALISED LIFT-OUT TRAY IS THE ORIGINAL AND HAS BEEN REFURBISHED. THE TRAY AND BOX HAVE BEEN LINED IN JEWEL GREEN ART PAPER. THE LID INTERIOR IS PADDED AND COVERED IN CONTRASTING GREEN CRUSHED VELVET. The green of the crushed velvet is a really pretty shade which we cannot quite capture properly. ALL COLOURS ARE CHOSEN TO SUIT THE PERIOD. THE HINGES ARE ORIGINAL. ORIGINAL LOCK WITH REPLACEMENT KEY – FULLY WORKING. To enable you to preserve your treasures and/or secrets whether it be jewellery, documents. Specimens or anything of sentimental value.
