Dating from 1825, this antique document/ jewellery box in Rosewood is inlaid with ornate brass corner mounts and brass stringing, accompanying right-angle brass edging, recessed side handles and a Bramah lock. The interior is lined with burgundy velvet and moiré silk. The main compartment measures 31.3cm x 21.8cm (12.25″ x 8.5″ approximately) internally which allows it to hold UK A4 paper. There is brass facing to the lower inner rims of the box, and inlaid brass stringing to the upper rims. Although unsigned, this box was almost certainly manufactured by David Edwards of 21 King Street, Bloomsbury, London. The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with an original Bramah key. This box comes in excellent condition throughout with a silk-smooth, gloss french polished finish. Measures: Width: 34.5cm / 13.5 Inches Depth: 24.9cm/ 10 Inches Height: 16.1cm/ 6.5 Inches.
