Fine Antiques & Collectibles. An early 20th century silver box with repousse work. It comes from Burma (now Myanmar) and unusually it has the town of manufacture, Paung, impressed to the underside along with the silver grade (900) and a crown mark. At this size it could have had multiple uses such as for cigars, as a jewellery box or as a small desk tidy. It is hinged along the length of the back and it is a friction fit close. The box has repousse panels in the Burmese style and is wood lined. A fine looking piece and fine to use. Light wear, hinge and closing all work fine. The odd slight dent, nothing significant. Length: 18 cm (7 1/8 inch) Depth: 11 cm (4 3/8 inch) Weight: 360 grams (before packing) Stock Code: 1387 SP18-6.
