Listed for your consideration is a rare, vintage beautifully hand carved African jewelry box by the Dogon People of Mali, believed to be from the early 20th century. A very unique piece, the base of the box is carved out of one piece of wood, adorned with. Tribal figures and crocodiles. And the lid is also carved from a single piece of wood adorned with a crocodile as the handle. Piece looks to have some termite damage that repairs were attempted to fix. The estimate of value was found in the book that is also pictured called, ” A Collectors guide to African Sculpture” with values. The book was printed 16 years ago (2000).
