

19th FRENCH Regency ROSEWOOD SEWING JEWELLERY BOX, Mother of Pearl MOP INLAY. AN THIS IS A TRULY LOVELY FRENCH SEWING BOX, AROUND 1830, WITH INTRICATE MOP ONLAY. ALL THE ROSEWOOD VENEER IS PRESENT, WITH A RICH DEEP COLOR, PATINA. MOP INTRICATE INLAY, ON TOP AND FRONT, AGAIN ALL PRESENT. SILVER STRINGING TO TOP AND FRONT TOO. INSIDE IS A DELIGHT, RICH ROSE RED PADDED LID. LIFT OUT SILK COVERED TRAY, ALL TRAY IS EDGED IN A ROPE SILVER OR PEWTER EDGING, NON MISSING. LOTS OF STORAGE, HAVING SECTIONS FOR TOOLS. THE COLOR SURVIVES WELL IN THESE AREAS. INTERIOR OF BOX IS LINED WITH MATCHING RED ROSE PAPER. The box has been repaired/restored. There are three missing of the round dot inlaid mother of pearl pattern in the top cover of the box they have been filled with a white material and overprinted with a slightly metallic paint. The rear left corner of the beaded border/band around the raised level on the cover has been replaced, see photos. The key to the lock is missing, the handles also. There is some light age scratching/denting to the surface and edges of the box (miner). There is some wear to the paper lining along the interior of the box.
